Substance Use Disorder Services

Substance Use Disorder is a treatable disease. The goal of the Substance Use Disorder Services Program is to reduce a person’s harmful involvement with alcohol and other drugs. Substance Use Disorder is a primary, progressive, chronic, and sometimes fatal illness that affects all aspects of a person’s life. Therefore, the Substance Use Disorder Services Program strives for abstinence from harmful chemicals. Since a person’s physical, psychological, social, and spiritual life can all be affected by Substance Use Disorder, the program’s goals encompass the following:

· The consumer’s mastery of recovery skills to maintain abstinence from harmful chemicals

· The consumer’s mastery of recovery skills to improve social and vocational functioning

· The consumer’s mastery of recovery skills to improve physical health and spiritual well-being

· Decreased consumer involvement in the criminal justice system

The Substance Use Disorder Services program serves both adolescents and adults. Since family members may also be affected by a loved one’s Substance Use Disorder, supportive services are available to family members as well.

Substance Use Disorder Services program staff are registered and licensed with the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board.

Successful treatment of Substance Use Disorder involves having the consumer develop their personal treatment plan goals for recovery with program staff, and striving towards achieving those goals. The Counseling Center offers an intensive, multi-disciplinary, holistic approach to treatment of Substance Use Disorder. Substance Use Disorder Services are available in the Lisbon, East Liverpool/Calcutta and Salem offices.
